AIGA Mobile stands with the Black community, our colleagues, and friends. This is a fight that has gone on too long without resolution. We acknowledge your pain, your fear, and your fight and we stand with you. Black lives matter.
The murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and so many others are abhorrent. The systems of oppression and inequity that allow them to continue must change.
We encourage all of our members and friends to take an active role in supporting the Black community and people of color. As a start, AIGA Mobile is donating to the following organizations: Alabama Appleseed Center for Law & Justice, Alabama NAACP, and The Bail Project and is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within our chapter and the Mobile, Alabama community.
We encourage you to extend support and love to your Black friends and family at this time. Support and shop at Black-owned businesses in our community. If you have the time and/or resources we encourage to consider getting involved with or donating to several of the resources below:
If you have questions, ideas, or concerns please reach out to us at web@mobile.aiga.org.
If you are looking for ways to educate yourself on being anti-racist, there are resources available here.
Stay safe and be well,
AIGA Mobile Board of Directors
